The Campani brothers, clockmakers for the Pope, made the clock in question. The wandering-hours concept was inspired by a 17th-century clock that Felix discovered in his father’s workshop. These watches were the pair’s first steps in their mission to innovate alternative methods of displaying time not seen in modern-day watchmaking. That same year, they revealed the UR-101 and UR-102 watches at Baselworld. But let’s start with some context.įelix Baumgartner and Martin Frei started URWERK in 1997. It’s definitely a UR-102 when you look at it, but it’s also very 2023. Notice I say “revisited” rather than “reissued.” The UR-102 Reloaded is a modern interpretation of last century’s watch. A round watch from a brand that is, these days, not known for watches resembling anything close to round. Now, 26 years after first debuting at Baselworld in 1997, URWERK has revisited the zeitgeist with the new UR-102 Reloaded. In terms of sizing and wearability, it definitely is - or was. I debated about a few books like Bear with Me Now by Katie Shepard, which looks adorable, and The Fiancé Farce by Alexandra Bellefleur, which is receiving a lot of early praise.I have long said that the UR-100 is URWERK’s most “traditional” watch. I think we may even see two BOTM romance selections. Sallie confronts the secrets and scandals that hide in the shadows of the Big House, navigates the factions in the family and town, and finally comes into her own as a bold, sometimes reckless bootlegger.Īfter a month with few solid romance releases, April is delivering in the genre. Nine years later, she returns, determined to reclaim her place in the family. When Sallie tries to teach young Eddie to be more like their father, her daredevil coaching leads to an accident, and Sallie is cast out. While Sallie is her father’s daughter, sharp-witted and resourceful, Eddie is his mother’s son, timid and cerebral. By the time she is just eight years old, the Duke has remarried and had a son, Eddie. Synopsis: Sallie Kincaid is the daughter of the biggest man in a small town, the charismatic Duke Kincaid. It was a BOTM pick around the time the movie adaptation premiered. However, her memoir, The Glass Castle, was a previous selection albeit not when it was first published. Since The House Is on Fire is very likely to be a pick, I was also hesitant to add any potential early releases, such as Hula by Jasmin Iolani Hakes.īecause Jeannette Walls has become so acclaimed, I am hesitant to bet on Hang the Moon being an April selection. So I debated about include a number of books, such as The Lost Wife by Susanna Moore and Coronation Year by Jennifer Robson. As I have previously said, this is one of the genres I find the most difficult to predict. I always have such a difficult time narrowing down historical fiction predictions. Repeat Author | Early Release Historical Fiction With a deft eye and generous spirit, Keane explores the disappointments and unexpected consolations of midlife, the many forms forgiveness can take, the complicated intimacy of small-town living, and what it means to be a family. Synopsis: From the bestselling author of Ask Again, Yes, a masterful novel that takes place over the course of one week when Malcolm learns shocking news about Jess, a patron of the bar goes missing, and a blizzard hits the town of Gillam, trapping everyone in place. It does come out on May 2nd, so I think it is a toss up if it will be an April or May pick. I would be surprised if The Half Moon is not a selection. I am betting that the books will drop on either Thursday, March 30th or Friday, March 31st.Īsk Again, Yes was a very popular past BOTM selection. For the first quarter of 2023, I predicted 79.17% (19 out of 24) of the selections correctly. I did include some March 28th releases in this list, but here is the link to my March predictions.įor March, I predicted 8 of the 10 BOTM selections. I was unsure if any early releases would be included or if BOTM will again include books published at the end of the previous month. It made it very difficult to put together predictions. I take a lot of time to research upcoming releases, analyze past selections, and choose books that are solid bets.īefore you scroll down and take a look at this month’s predictions, I would appreciate it if you read my recent post about creating my predictions.Īpril is a month packed full of great new releases. You can sign up here to get your first book for $5.Įvery month, I make (pretty accurate) predictions about which books will be featured by Book of the Month (BOTM). Book of the Month is a subscription box in which members choose up to 3 hardcover books to receive each month.
